Course Aims

DataCom Interactive Ltd provide the EDI Level 2 Certificate for CCTV Operatives (Public Space Surveillance). This qualification is designed to equip learners with the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to competently operate a CCTV system and to address the licensing requirements which came into force in Scotland as from November 2007.
This course will:
Provide underpinning knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation and company policies required of a CCTV operative.
Develop learners’ understanding of why CCTV is used.
Develop the skills required to manipulate and process imagery from CCTV systems.
Develop understanding in how to prioritise and deal with incidents as they arise.
Raise the awareness of the learner of the importance and credibility of their role.

Who should attend

This programme is primarily aimed at learners who are working in the CCTV industry but can equally be of use to learners who may wish to transfer from other security industry sectors into CCTV operating.
Progression
There is a proposed EDI Level 3 qualification aimed at Managers/Supervisors in the Security industry which will further develop their knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation of and production of evidence for civil and criminal proceedings. Interest may develop in working with digital imagery, working in the wider security industry or related areas.

• Explain the purpose of a CCTV system
• LO1: Identify features and functions of a CCTV system
• LO2: Describe the relevant legislation, codes of practice and company policies relating to the role of a CCTV operative
• LO3: Apply Health and Safety within a CCTV operation
• LO4: Describe the day-to-day responsibilities for an operative of a CCTV system
• LO5: Explain CCTV surveillance techniques
• LO6: Process CCTV imagery for use as evidence by external parties
• LO7: Describe how CCTV imagery may be presented as evidence

EDI Level 2 Certificate for CCTV Operatives (Public Space Surveillance) in Scotland

Assessment

Externally set and assessed multiple choice questionnaire and internally set and
assessed practical competencies, which are externally moderated
